what to read if you like outlander

Book Recommendations: Books to Read if you like Outlander

If you like OUTLANDER OUTLANDER (the book and the TV show) is a big epic story that combines elements of romance, time travel, and historic fiction. It’s a huge series with lots of devoted fans. But where do you turn if you’ve read all the Outlander books and you’re waiting for the next? Here are some authors I love that I’m recommending to those who love Outlander.   April White, The Immortal Descendants series Time travel, you say? The Immortal Descendants is a great YA series that features a brand new mythology where the heroine, Saira, can travel through time. It’s well-researched, compelling, and fast-paced. It’s also recently finished! So you can binge-read to your heart’s content. And if you have teenagers, this would be a really fun buddy read because adults will love these just as much as teens do.   Singrid Undset, Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy   Are […]

Elizabeth Hunter's top reads for 2017

Book Recommendations: My Top Reads of 2017 so Far

Here are my top reads for 2017 so far!   Linx & Bogie by Elizabeth Hunter I’m so excited that the first collection of this new series has made such a splash. It’s been on the bestseller list for fantasy short fiction for weeks now, and it’s a great introduction to this lighter mystery and paranormal series. Linx and Bogie are pure banter and fun.         Binti by Nnedi Okorafor I do love great sci-fi, and this novella by Nnedi Okorafor is a gem. Beautifully imagined and very well written, this is a universe I’ll be happy to spend more time in. Binti is a compelling protagonist. Relatable. Sympathetic. Curious. I loved this story.       March by John Lewis and Andrew Aydin This is a graphic novel adaptation of John Lewis’s autobiography written with Andrew Aydin. Timely and vibrant, it’s a story of the civil […]

5 must read paranormal books

Book Recommendations: 5 Books to Feed Your Paranormal Need

If you are looking for a good paranormal read check out these that I recommend.   The Scarlet Deep by Elizabeth Hunter Pairings in vampire fiction almost always have a human/vampire, vampire/shifter, vampire/witch, etc. Even in my own books! It’s kind of rare to explore a romance between two beings of equal power, which is one of the things I love about The Scarlet Deep. That, and Murphy is just smoking hot.           Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor Is it urban fantasy? High fantasy? Magical realism? All these things together? I don’t know how you classify this book, but I loved it. I don’t read much YA, but this series is stunning, sophisticated, and beautifully drawn. Stellar and unique world-building.         Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews I am a huge Kate Daniels fan, but I was nervous about this […]

Book Recommendations: Anticipated Summer Reads

If you have wondered what books I am waiting in anticipation for, then you are in luck. Here are some of the books I can’t wait to read this summer. The Silent by Elizabeth Hunter (July 28th) After the huge project that was The Staff and the Blade, I’m excited to give readers Leo and Kyra’s story, which is the next new book in the expanded Irin Chronicles.Set against a continuingly evolving world, Leo and Kyra have one of the most romantic relationships I’ve ever written. And one of the steamiest!     Silver Silence by  Nalini Singh (June 13th) The first arc of the Psy-Changling series may have come to an end, but Singh proves this series still has a lot more stories to tell in Silver Silence. I received an ARC of SS for review, and I am thrilled to tell readers that I’m just as enthralled with […]

Book Recommendations: 5 Vampire Books With a Bite

5 books I would recommend when you are in the mood for a great vampire read.   A Hidden Fire by Elizabeth Hunter The first one! Still one of my favorites. This is the book that started a world. What would you do if you had eternity to spare? Read books, of course. Dive into the Elemental Mysteries and meet vampires who are rare book dealers, librarians who are action heroes, and irreverent priests with boundary issues   Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost I loved the Cat and Bones books by Frost, but there was always something about Vlad. VLAD. sigh I was so excited when I heard Frost was giving him his own series, and I was thrilled he found a heroine, Leila, to match his awesomeness.     Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice The third of the Vampire Chronicles and probably my favorite of the Lestat books. […]

Book Recommendations: 5 Books for Your Shifter Fix

5 Books to Read When You Are in the Mood for Shape Shifters Shifting Dreams, Elizabeth Hunter I’m biased on this one, but Caleb and Jena are one of my favorite couples. I love how Jena’s hawk side informs her character, and the humor she and Caleb enjoy made this book a joy to write.         Moon Called, Patricia Briggs Excellent writing combined with humor and a fast paced plot. I loved Mercy Thompson from the very first page. She’s one of my favorite heroines.           Dragon Bound, Thea Harrison Harrison proves in this that shifter books can be combined with a really immersive fantasy world. The romance is sizzling. The world-building is epic. Plus… the hero is a DRAGON! Enough said.         Slave to Sensation, Nalini Singh This first book in the Psy-Changling world introduces readers to a complex […]
