Nope! This is a stand alone book. Which means that even if you’ve never read any of my other Elemental universe books, you’ll be able to pick this one up and enjoy. This is an entirely new series set in an existing world, but you won’t be lost. I’ve even had beta readers who aren’t familiar with my other books read this one to be sure. So far, they’ve loved it. Is this a paranormal romance? Though there are some romantic subplots throughout the series, this […]

Anthology announcement and an Elemental Legacy teaser

Happy Saturday, everyone! I’m shooting off a quick blog post before my VERY BUSY WEEK this coming week. What’s on the agenda? Family reunion Grandmother’s memorial THE SILENT book release Getting TallBoy ready for Boy Scout camp More writing on the new book if at all possible I’m tired and the week hasn’t even started. blinkblink via GIPHY SO, let’s check a few things off, shall we? First off, I am very excited to announce that I’ll be joining a holiday anthology this year with three amazing authors (all of whose work I recommend) Thea Harrison, Grace Draven, and Jeffe Kennedy. The title of the anthology is… Up for debate. This is what happens when grammar nerds rumble, my friends. See, the original title was “Amid the Winter’s Snow” which is great, right? So we started with the cover, Grace and I collaborating, and I mocked up the copy for […]

I PROMISE I DIDN’T DIE! (I’m just very busy.) #newrelease #paranormalsuspense

First off, I’m so sorry I’ve been absent from the blog. Between holidays and travel and school and travel and writing and— I wrote a thing for you! (so please don’t kill me) But seriously, after this next trip (yes, I’m taking another one, this one is for Irin) I’ll get back to regular posting about stuff and things. But for now, who’s in the mood for some paranormal suspense with a little bite? Zombie colds, ghost detectives, and book trailers.

Okay, so I have a zombie cold. via GIPHY (That’s me on the left in the pjs with the messy hair.) And by zombie cold, I mean a cold that has me feeling like the walking dead. Now I understand half the country was traumatized by the actual Walking Dead tv show last weekend, so I avoided using any gifs from that show (which I don’t watch) and stuck with the Romero classic. I hope nobody had flashbacks. But why does my zombie cold matter to you? Well, it doesn’t. Not really. I mean, everyone gets colds, right? I don’t get them often, which SHOULD make me grateful, but mostly it just makes me super whiny because I’m a really bad patient and I’m accustomed to good health. Yes, I know that’s obnoxious. The reason this may matter to you is that I was supposed to write a brand new Linx […]

A new chapter of Imitation & Alchemy. (Better late than never.)

Mea culpa. I was at a writing retreat in Northern California over the weekend and wifi was spotty. Great for word count! Not so great for posting on the website. But I have a new chapter of Imitation & Alchemy up here! I also have a secret project (!!!) that I finished over the weekend, which will be out before Christmas. I am NOT going to be teasing any of the project, but there will be an exclusive offer for those on my VIP Reader list before it comes out. So if you’re not on that list you can sign up here. Other than that, enjoy! Hope you like the new chapter. Things are getting interesting in Naples! From Chapter Three… “You are Tenzin,” the vampire said when she reached the center of the square. “Yes.” Tenzin didn’t rise to her feet. Just looked up at the other vampire, squinting a […]

FREE fiction and a cover reveal for Imitation & Alchemy.

I’ve been going back and forth on how I wanted to publish Imitation and Alchemy, the second prequel novella for Ben and Tenzin’s Elemental Legacy series. Last year, I published Shadows and Gold as a free serial on my website before I made it available for sale. And I loved doing that! I love being able to occasionally share work with you guys while I’m writing it. It’s very motivating, and I think it’s fun for readers, too. But then there was some nasty business with bad people stealing an author’s work off her website and forcing Amazon to take it down and halting sales. It was finally resolved in the author’s favor, but I’ll admit, it spooked me. BUT since I’m going to practice the optimism I was preaching last week on the blog, I’ve decided to go ahead and publish Imitation and Alchemy as a serial on my […]

First look! Imitation & Alchemy: An Elemental Legacy Novella

What’s Imitation & Alchemy, you ask? Why it’s just the next Elemental Legacy novella for Ben and Tenzin. (Or Benzin, as you all have named them.) I’m estimating this novella will be out this winter. I’m aiming for early February, but that depends on editing and holidays and all that jazz. I have to share this bit of what I wrote today because Benzin makes me laaaaugh really hard. I’m traveling back to Italy with the two of them in this novella. Currently, they’re in Naples. Here’s a peek of Tenzin’s POV.   Filomena led them under the Roman arches of subterranean Naples and toward her master, who was sitting on a raised dais playing king of all he surveyed. Tenzin disliked him immediately. He wasn’t a handsome vampire. His face was pockmarked and sagging. His skin had once been olive, but now it leaned toward sallow. A high forehead, arched […]
