Book Recommendations: Anticipated Summer Reads

If you have wondered what books I am waiting in anticipation for, then you are in luck. Here are some of the books I can’t wait to read this summer. The Silent by Elizabeth Hunter (July 28th) After the huge project that was The Staff and the Blade, I’m excited to give readers Leo and Kyra’s story, which is the next new book in the expanded Irin Chronicles.Set against a continuingly evolving world, Leo and Kyra have one of the most romantic relationships I’ve ever written. And one of the steamiest!     Silver Silence by  Nalini Singh (June 13th) The first arc of the Psy-Changling series may have come to an end, but Singh proves this series still has a lot more stories to tell in Silver Silence. I received an ARC of SS for review, and I am thrilled to tell readers that I’m just as enthralled with […]

Book Recommendations: 5 Books to Feed your Urban Fantasy Addiction

Here are 5 books I would recommend to feed your urban fantasy addiction. Imitation and Alchemy by Elizabeth Hunter This was the first of the Ben and Tenzin stories to really capture who I see these characters becoming in the new Elemental Legacy series. They’re smart and sneaky and a little bit vicious. Tenzin pulls no punches, but in Imitation, we finally see the man Ben Vecchio is going to be when he comes into his own. This is my favorite of the Elemental Legacy novellas. Plus, it’s set in one of my favorite countries, Italia!   Midnight Riot by Ben Aaronovitch Can you capture the magic of a city on a page? Aaronovitch writes one of the premier urban fantasy series in the Peter Grant Mysteries, and Midnight Riot is the first one. The London setting becomes a character in this enthralling read. It’s one of those books that makes you […]

Herbs, pink salts, and flower petals turned the bathroom into something far closer to one of the fancy spas that he’d seen in Chiang Mai. “This is wonderful.” Leo […]

Cover Reveal: THE SILENT Irin Chronicles Book Five

I’m so happy to reveal the cover for the new Irin Chronicles book, The Silent, which will be out July 28th! I love this cover. And I love this book! Here’s the synopsis: They are called kareshta, the silent ones. But the silent are waking. Kyra has lived her life in the shadow of a powerful Grigori brother. She’s ignored her own desires for the good of her family. But an unexpected request from Thailand sends her on a mission that could change her life and alter the fate of free Grigori all over the world. Sons of the Fallen hidden in the mountains of Thailand have adapted an ancient human magic for their own purposes. Will this practice bring peace or lead to even greater danger for the Irin race? A simple diplomatic mission sends Leo to Bangkok, but he didn’t expect to see a familiar face in surveillance […]

Book trailer day! And A Stone-Kissed Sea ARC Contest.

No big announcements today except I wanted to post the trailer for A Stone-Kissed Sea over here. I hope you enjoy! Check down at the bottom of the post to see how to enter the ARC Contest. For those of you who have already preordered the book, thank you so much! For those of you waiting to see if you want to read a book about Lucien, maybe this will convince you. OR maybe the words of my developmental editor Lora will: “If you’ve enjoyed The Elemental World series as much as I have, then you’re going to love A STONE-KISSED SEA. I think it’s the best of the series, and considering how good that series is, that’s saying a lot! Elizabeth wraps up the Elixir plotline, and there’s a substantial shift in the Elemental World, both figuratively and literally.  If you’re a Ben and Tenzin fan, I can tell you […]

Zombie colds, ghost detectives, and book trailers.

Okay, so I have a zombie cold. via GIPHY (That’s me on the left in the pjs with the messy hair.) And by zombie cold, I mean a cold that has me feeling like the walking dead. Now I understand half the country was traumatized by the actual Walking Dead tv show last weekend, so I avoided using any gifs from that show (which I don’t watch) and stuck with the Romero classic. I hope nobody had flashbacks. But why does my zombie cold matter to you? Well, it doesn’t. Not really. I mean, everyone gets colds, right? I don’t get them often, which SHOULD make me grateful, but mostly it just makes me super whiny because I’m a really bad patient and I’m accustomed to good health. Yes, I know that’s obnoxious. The reason this may matter to you is that I was supposed to write a brand new Linx […]

Cover Reveal: A Stone-Kissed Sea

Two posts in one week? What is it, the coming apocalypse??? Nope. Just the cover reveal for A Stone-Kissed Sea. (Which comes out on December 6th and is now available to preorder everywhere.) Amazon: http://amzn.to/2dreVid iTunes: http://apple.co/2dEzyJK Nook: http://bit.ly/2ehboXT Kobo: http://bit.ly/2dXOKzy Smashwords: http://bit.ly/2e0ZehR ISN’T IT PRETTY? The cover for A Stone-Kissed Sea was created by Damonza.com and—I know I have said this before—but I really think it’s some of their best work. The models are perfect. The colors are stunning. And it really captures the unique qualities of this book while still fitting into the overall scheme of the Elemental World series. Much of this book deals with the collision of elements. Earth and sea. Past and present. History and future. I think this cover captures all those elements in a visually arresting way. Also, on a purely superficial level, Lucien and Makeda may be the prettiest people I have ever put on the cover of one […]

Realities of Publishing (aka The Post I Have Been Dreading)

Today I am writing a post that I’ve been DREADING. Yes, dreading all in capital letters. Why have I been dreading it? Well, because it’s a post talking about: The Realities of Publishing. I write fantasy books. Clearly, I like avoiding the real world as much as possible. But I am also a full-time writer, the kind that has no second income or fall-back employment. This means I can spend my professional life writing and researching stories and getting the word out to readers like yourself! This also means that passion only takes me so far. I have three different series. This was a deliberate juggle on my part that has (mostly) paid off. I never wanted to be that writer who was only known for one thing. I never wanted to pigeonhole myself creatively or professionally. So despite what common wisdom would dictate, I paused in writing the Elemental […]
