5 books I would recommend when you are in the mood for a great vampire read.
A Hidden Fire by Elizabeth Hunter
The first one! Still one of my favorites. This is the book that started a world. What would you do if you had eternity to spare? Read books, of course. Dive into the Elemental Mysteries and meet vampires who are rare book dealers, librarians who are action heroes, and irreverent priests with boundary issues
Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost
I loved the Cat and Bones books by Frost, but there was always something about Vlad. VLAD. sigh I was so excited when I heard Frost was giving him his own series, and I was thrilled he found a heroine, Leila, to match his awesomeness.
Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice
The third of the Vampire Chronicles and probably my favorite of the Lestat books. Rice’s complex world explodes in this volume. The action, intrigue, and layers in this book turn Rice’s lush prose into a genuine page-turner.
Night’s Honor by Thea Harrison
This book was the first to really dive into the vampire aspect of Harrison’s excellent Elder Races series, and readers who love my philosophical vampires will probably adore Xavier, a warrior-priest who’s been a vampire for hundreds of years.
Most of Singh’s Guild Hunter books are about the angels, but this was the first one to really focus on the vampires! It’s all Dmitri all the time in Archangel’s Blade, and Dmitri and his fraught love story with guild hunter, Honor, will keep you glued to the page. I loved this book. It’s dark and delicious and very, very hot.
